Aggregated Content Curation

Pinterest is an excellent content curation tool that has be chosen to group different acitivities of plants. Many people use this tool. In this way, those who are interested in teaching the unit of plants will be able to see 5 pins that I consider essential to use in class. Moreover, you can search for new content related to the topic you are teaching about and adding new pins when you want! That appears in the right-top of this blog.

1- The fist one is a video that you can search on YouTube. It will be very useful for introducing the topic essential to be watched by the children. That´s because the success of the kids in the next activities will depend on the reproduction of tis video.

2- Then, they will complete a worksheet to know if they have paid attention to the video. They have to fill the blanks with the name of the parts of a plant.

3- In the third activity, they will have to read a "book" of storyjumper. The clear explanations and the images will help the students to know how plants grow.

4 - There are some steps they can follow at home if they want to plant a seed. It´s more meaningful for students to have an active role and build their knowledge. How would you put that in practise better than planting their seeds?

5- Finally, they can visit the wordwall website and complete a quiz about plants. Teachers will be able to see how much have their students learnt.

  1. Nice post Diego! I really liked the idea of making practical tasks in class and reading a book! These activities imply meaningful learning. I've just followed your Pinterest board since plants are a great part of Science content. Good scaffolded planning - that's a great CLIL teachers' characteristic.

USING MINDMAPS IN CLASS

According to one of the previous didactic unit about weather I have planned, I consider essential to create a mindmap. In this way, will be able to structure in their minds the main concepts of the unit.  The application I have selected to create the mindmap is Creately. From my point of view, it is very easy to add different kinds of lines, squares and circles to write important concepts. Moreover you can decorate them with different colours. It seem to be a basic thing but, in other apps I have tried, I had to pay for it. An other thing I consider essential of this page is that I can attach as many images from my computer.

BACK TO 1256 - VIDEO CLIP

The video we have created can be visualised by fourth grades in the area of Social Science. In this way, students will be able to compare and analyse some differences between the present and the past (XIII century): Awesome landscapes that have been replaced by buildings and roads. Healthy food that has been substituted by fast food. Male supremacy which is being switched into gender equality.  In the video, a couple from the present travel in time to 1256 thanks to an awesome dream. There, they meet an other loving couple who show them habits, attitudes and landscapes they have in that period of time. In this line, the “modern couple” exchange with them their own belongings such as masks and doritos. Moreover, they emphasise the importance of the equality among men and women, what seemed to be impossible to achieve during the 13th century.  The filming of the video has been possible due to a travel to Buitrago de Lozoya, a beautiful village located in the north of Madrid. FAVOURITE P.E. GAMES

Physical Education lessons start with a warm up. After that, it´s very important to engage your students to your class with challenging games. Here, you can find some of the games I have played with them. I'm sure that they will be very profitable for all of you.      - Tic Tac Toe: It´s known as "3 en raya" in Spain. The gruop is divided into 2 teams. They have to pick up the t-shirts from the floor and place them in the correct hoop in order to have three of the same color in a row.      - Spiders: Four students will be selected. They will have to move as spiders do, trying to catch other students. If one mate is taught by other one spider, both will have to catch the rest of students. The last student that is taught by a spider will be the winner.
